Hack the Hackathon 6
Motivation and rationale
This workshop aims to bring together researchers, organizers, and practitioners from different disciplines who are interested in hackathons, game jams, maker spaces, and similar time-bounded participant-driven events, to share the current state of practice and research related to such events, and to discuss future challenges and new directions.
For this year’s edition, we will particularly focus on what currently reshapes hackathons and the world in general: generative AI is changing what's possible (and what counts as "a project") during an event, and shrinking funding is challenging who can afford to run or attend events. HTH6 will be our space to dig into both: what's changing, what’s not, what's at risk, and what do we want to do about it?
Date and location
October 20-22, 2026
We will host this event as a virtual gathering.
Join us at HtH6!
If you're interested in attending, please fill out the form below! Our goal is to build on conversations started during the first five workshops, develop new ideas and initiatives in particular related to the role of hackathons in the age of (Gen)AI, and continue to grow and expand our community of practitioners and researchers. You do not need to have attended any of the previous events to participate in this iteration.
